Creating & Maintaining Watermarks
Understanding Watermark Capabilities Through PlanOmatic
Why are Watermarks Important?
Our clients who believe strongly in using a company logo watermark on their photos cite three main reasons:
- Watermarks (when placed correctly) deter scammers from taking a screenshot of the home exterior and creating a fraudulent listing on a site like Craigslist
- A quality watermark professionalizes the listing and gives the prospect confidence that they are working with a quality property management company
- Watermarks offer a great branding opportunity for the property management company
How do I create a Watermark file myself?
Creating a watermark file is relatively straightforward as long as you have the proper tools. The watermark file is essentially a transparent PNG file with dimensions of 3600×2400 that sits on top of the photo itself. To create a watermark file you will need the following:
- White PNG version of your logo
- Image editing software such as Adobe Photoshop
Here is a video showing how to create a watermark file using Adobe Photoshop.
Can PlanOmatic help create a Watermark file?
Yes, PlanOmatic can help create the Watermark file with the following conditions:
- The client can provide a white PNG version of the company logo
- The client chooses one of the following four standard watermark layouts offered by PlanOmatic:
Layout 1: Center Aligned
Layout 2: Center Aligned
Layout 3: Top & Bottom
Layout 4: Four Corners

What do I do with my watermark file?
Now that you have your watermark file, you can upload it directly to Plano-X and all your photos can be downloaded with the new watermark.
Here is a video showing how to upload your watermark file to Plano-X.
- In Plano-X, go to your company “Preferences”
- Click the “Edit” pencil
- Under the Watermark Logo, Click “Edit” pencil
- Upload your PNG Watermark file
- Click “Save”
That’s it! If you are having trouble with this, please contact support@planomatic.com.
How do I download photos with the Watermark?
Here is a video showing how to access photos with the Watermark.
- In Plano-X, navigate to your list of completed jobs and click the “Download” icon
- Or if you are on the Property page, click the “Download” icon at the top right of the screen:
- Click the “Settings” icon in the Download menu
- Choose “Photos” > “Medium” > “Watermark” > “Standard” >> “Download”
What if I already had a watermark on file?
If you already have a watermark in the Plano-X system, you can easily replace it with a new watermark file. When you navigate to a previously completed job in Plano-X and download the photos, the new watermark file should be visible on the photos. If you run into issues please contact us at support@planomatic.com.
Why is the download taking so long?
The expected download time for the watermarked photos is no more than 30 seconds. If you run into a download time longer than that, there are two possibilities:
- If you updated your Watermark File and then proceeded to download photos from an existing photo shoot in Plano-X, that download may take up to 2 minutes because each photo is re-caching in our database and overwriting the old version of the photo.
- If not #1, then it may be a bug – in that case, please reach out to support@planomatic.com to alert us of the issue.
Are the watermarked photos available via API?
Yes! Here are the instructions to get set up with an API:
- First, be sure to create your watermark file and upload it to Plano-X according to the instructions above
- Email integration@planomatic.com with your company details to get an API feed turned on for your company
- The Integration Team will send you an invite to our PlanOintegrate platform
- Login to PlanOintegrate and create a Webhook
- Once you create a webhook, any new job we complete for your company will generate a Webhook that you can see in PlanOintegrate
- In the webhook, you will see the key “full_size_watermarked_url” within the photos array – this is the key that will contain a link to the Watermarked photo.See a sample of the code below:

What if I previously had a watermark on file and accessed watermarked photos via Data Feed API?
In order to see all previous photos with the new watermark the PlanOmatic Technology team will need to run a script to update and recache all the old photos with the new watermark. To learn more or to request this update, please contact us at integration@planomatic.com.
